Cleveland, Ohio

Cleveland is the most populous city in the state of Ohio located on the southern shore of Lake Erie at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River. The city which has several nicknames including the City of Bridges, The Forest City, The Rock and Roll Capital of the World and the Metropolis of the Western Reserve is an exiting place which is home to numerous world-class attractions. Cleveland will delight visitors all ages and interests.

Downtown Cleveland is dominated by an impressive skyline and iconic skyscrapers such as the Tower City Center which was also added on the National Register of Historic Places. At the time of its completion in 1927 it was the second tallest building in the United States after New York until 1967 and remained the tallest structure in the city of Cleveland until 1991 when it was superseded by the Key Tower which is both the tallest building in Cleveland and Ohio. Both the Tower City Center and Key Tower are located on the Public Square where you can also find the Old Stone Church built in 1855, the Cuyahoga County Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, Society for Savings Building, the Howard M. Metzenbaum US Courthouse and the former Higbee's department store that was featured in the film A Christmas Story. If you want to see the Parker's house from the movie A Christmas Story you should head to the Tremont neighborhood south of Downtown Cleveland.

Both history and architecture buffs will be delighted by the Cleveland Arcade also known as Old Arcade, one of the city's most prominent landmarks which has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places and declared the National Historic Landmark. Other historic buildings and sites worth visiting include The Mall, the Warehouse District, Adelbert Hall, the Dunham Tavern (the oldest building in Cleveland) and many others most of which have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places as well such as the Detroit-Superior Bridge and the Hope Memorial Bridge.

Cleveland is also famous for its world-class art museums and was named one of the Top 25 Arts Destinations by the American Style Magazine. The city is home to the Playhouse Square Center, the second largest performing arts center in the United States as well as the world-renowned Cleveland Museum of Art housing a collection of over 43,000 art works from all over the world. Visitors interested in arts will also enjoy the Museum of Contemporary Art and the world's largest rubber stamp known as the Free Stamp near the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum which is dedicated to history of the rock music.

Cleveland is often referred as golfer's paradise and has largest number of golf courses per capita in the United States. The city is also home to several exciting professional sports team including the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Browns. In addition to world-class tourist attractions, the city also offers countless outdoor activities and recreational opportunities ranging from water sports to hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, rollerblading and hiking.
